BeachWalk at Playa Caracol

BeachWalk is a multi-tower residential development at Playa Caracol on Panama’s Pacific coast. Gatun Lake Construction’s construction scope includes the installation of more than 1,400 prefabricated concrete elements in collaboration with SCI Prowall.

The size of the installation illustrates one of precast concrete’s most important applications: a development with numerous coordinated components that can be manufactured and assembled in sequence.

For a project of this scale, installation planning extends beyond lifting panels. Deliveries, crane movements, temporary support, structural connections, tolerances and coordination with other trades all influence progress.

Oasis Apartment Villas at Playa Caracol

The Playa Caracol Oasis project uses precast concrete at a smaller multifamily scale. Gatun Lake Construction installed eight apartment villas, each consisting of three floors, four apartments and one penthouse.

Repeated building configurations created an opportunity to coordinate common elements across the development. At the same time, the beachfront location required planning for transport, lifting operations and orderly installation within an active coastal project.

Oasis shows that precast construction is not reserved for high-rise towers. It can also support low-rise apartment buildings when the design contains sufficient repetition and the logistics are planned from the beginning.

Miguel “Mickey” Sierra in San Miguelito

Between October 2023 and February 2024, Gatun Lake Construction installed approximately 500 precast elements for Towers A and B of the Miguel “Mickey” Sierra residential project in San Miguelito.

The work formed part of a larger public housing complex comprising five towers and 400 apartments. Panama’s Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning described the development as a prefabricated concrete-and-steel construction and reported that the first three towers were delivered in October 2024.

For Gatun Lake Construction, the defined scope demonstrates the use of precast installation in a dense urban housing environment where sequencing, safety and coordination are essential.

Residential Housing in Las Mañanitas

In Las Mañanitas, Gatun Lake Construction installed precast panels for 15 houses. The development represented the company’s first project involving the construction of a complete residential street using precast panels.

Work began in December 2020, paused during the national restrictions at the beginning of 2021 and resumed later that January. The project was completed in March 2021 through close coordination between Gatun Lake Construction and SCI Prowall.
